The virtual impulse seminar in cooperation between BIBA and the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Bremen-Oldenburg offers an overview of the latest developments in the field of cobots in the manufacturing industry and their possible applications in small and medium-sized enterprises. Based on this, considerations on economic and technical feasibility will be presented. We also show how cobots are already being used successfully in various application areas and how you can use simple decision rules to quickly analyze whether the use of a cobot is worthwhile for your company.
Innovative Energy Concepts – Energy Flexibility and Grid Serviceability
November 20, 2025, BIBA
Image: Jonas Hörnschemeyer
The energy transition is not only taking place on rooftops, but also in minds, in production, in data centers, and in corporate strategies. It requires us to no longer just consume energy, but to understand it—as a resource, as an economic factor, and as part of an interconnected system. In close cooperation between science, business, and industry, we take a look at how research, technology, and entrepreneurial practice interact. We talk about the bridge between theory and implementation, about new roles in the energy system, and about the courage to rethink our own energy supply.
The event “Innovative Energy Concepts – Energy Flexibility and Grid Serviceability” on November 20, 2025, at BIBA will focus on ideas relating to energy-flexible production, digital infrastructure as an energy partner, and holistic energy strategies for companies. Be our guest and learn in practical presentations how research and industry are working together to develop innovative solutions for a flexible, efficient, and crisis-resilient energy supply. Discover novel approaches – from intelligently controlled data centers to strategic energy management in practice. Take advantage of the opportunity to engage in direct exchange with experts from business, science, and industry. The day will be rounded off with a get-together featuring snacks, drinks, and exciting conversations.
We offer this event in cooperation with Der Mittelstand. BVMW and the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum-Bremen-Oldenburg.

Mittelstand Digital Congress 2025: AI and Cyber Security for Businesses
November 13, 2025, Bremen
[Translate to English:] Bild: Navaporn/stock.adobe.com
Germany should remain a country of small and medium-sized enterprises and become an AI nation. This requires secure and sustainable digitalization—especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups, and craft businesses. The Mittelstand Digital Congress 2025 will highlight key issues: What knowledge of artificial intelligence is necessary? What impact will the new cybersecurity regulations (e.g., NIS2) have in practice? When does voluntary become mandatory?
As a partner of the Mittelstand Digital Center Bremen-Oldenburg, BIBA is participating in the event and presenting a demonstrator for the use of augmented reality (AR) in logistics. Visitors can experience first-hand how AR supports processes in warehousing and order picking, increases efficiency, and at the same time takes IT security and compliance requirements into account. Experts will be available for technical discussions and will explain how AI-supported applications and cybersecurity measures can be integrated into business practice.

Visit us at booth C/02 and learn how you can use AI in logistics to boost your competitiveness. See our model of an innovative AI-based assistance system for supporting ship docking maneuvers in ports. This digital replica of a real test field in Bremerhaven was developed as part of the Port2Connect project.
Autumn Internship at the Technology Park with Attractive BIBA Offers
October 13-17, 2025, Bremen

The autumn internship at the “Technologiepark Uni Bremen” during the school vacations is very popular. Alongside other well-known institutions, BIBA is once again taking part with attractive offers - to inspire young people for engineering. The interns first get to know the participating companies and institutes and then dedicate themselves to project work at their host institutions.
This year, BIBA is once again providing exclusive insights into its current research and development projects. Our four internships are dedicated to the topics of circularity and mycelial composites. Here, young people learn how new materials are produced from natural residues and fungi that could enable a circular economy in various industries in the future, especially the packaging industry. By working in the laboratories and with the technical equipment, the interns learn about research topics and methods and are given the opportunity to apply them themselves. They will also design and produce their own mycelium products as part of the internship.
We are looking forward to working together with young researchers for a week!
RZ.NORDBEAT: Experience energy-flexible production based on models
October 8, 2025, 2pm - 6pm, BIBA, Bremen
Image: RZ.NORDBEAT
As part of the event series RZ.NORDBEAT – the north is shaping the future! BIBA provides an insight into current research on the topic of energy flexibility.
Higher electricity consumption due to the electrification of value creation and rising energy costs are putting pressure on companies to do more than just purchase battery storage systems. With our demonstrator, you can take on the role of operations management and use models to examine the impact of various energy flexibility measures. Test which season is more profitable for generating electricity with your own solar modules than with wind energy, or explore the possibilities offered by modified production control.
We look forward to welcoming you to BIBA and discussing the advantages and challenges of energy flexibility. We also offer guided tours of the BIBA research hall, where you can learn more about our institute's current research and development priorities.
No registration is necessary – we look forward to seeing you between 2 and 6 p.m.! If you have any questions, please contact Markus Trapp.
