The Transferzentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz BREMEN.AI supports companies in the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) and is committed to the coalescence of Bremen's AI scene. On February 28, the Transfer Center is hosting an event in cooperation with the VDE Region Nord-West and the Digital Hub Industry Bremen e.V.. The Mittelstand 4.0-Kompetenzzentrum Bremen will also be on site with a team of experts and will be available for a lively exchange about concrete application possibilities of AI in companies.

Under the motto "Port meets AI - A 110-year-old floodgate becomes intelligent", BIBA presents the intelligent assistance system developed in the Tide2Use project, which could increase the sustainability and digitalization of Bremen's industrial port. Through the predictive planning of Artificial Intelligence, there is a great potential to increase energy efficiency when the harbor basin is naturally irrigated by the floodgate during high tide.

Be there and experience AI up close! You can also look forward to interesting keynote presentations on autonomous systems and corporate digital responsibility in innovation management.

Making Robotics Tangible – Autonomous Mobile Robots using the Example of ROS

December 09, 2022, Bremen & online (hybrid)

Image: RIEMANN

The workshop offers you the opportunity to explore and actively try out the capabilities of modern robotics platform in a practical way. The goal is to reduce the technological barriers to using a fleet of robots, e.g. in warehouses or manufacturing. The workshop will familiarize you with advanced navigation concepts in a simple way that you will be able to maintain and debug complex solutions yourself, without third-party assistance. This will enable you to put a complex system into operation in a short time without detailed knowledge of the internal structures, thus saving costs and waiting times.

The focus of the workshop is on demonstrating and trying out features of ROS, which we will try out very practically on the Turtlebot3. The presented tools and methods can be directly applied by you and transferred to any ROS-compatible robotics system. The workshop will take place in presence at BIBA and will be streamed online in parallel. It is aimed at technicians, people interested in or with an affinity for robotics, and students of engineering-related bachelor's or master's degree programs and is organized by BIBA in cooperation with the Mittelstand 4.0-Kompetenzzeztrum Bremen and the EIT Manufacturing project RIEMAN.

Resource Efficiency in Production Processes - Recording, Analysis and Optimization According to Lean & Green Principles

November 24, 2022, BIBA

Image: pickup/AdobeStock

Resource efficiency has long been on the minds of the manufacturing industry for economic and ecological reasons. And anyone who is concerned with lean principles is certainly well on the way to producing in a way that conserves resources. Is that enough to meet the green requirements, though? This symposium provides food for thought and instructions for action from practice for practice and shows concrete ways to identify needs for action in one's own company, to make suitable prioritizations and to ensure a sustainable implementation according to the Lean&Green principles. The four key notes and the subsequent specialist sessions will cover a wide range of topic:

  • Capture greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in production.
  • Identification of resource wastage during treatment and processing in value chains.
  • Preventive measures through resource-oriented production planning.
  • Establishing a production system as a framework for sustainability.

The symposium is offered in cooperation of BIBA with the Mittelstand 4.0-Kompetenzzentrum Bremen, U2 Unternehmensberatung & Umsetzungsunterstützung and the Verband Umwelt Unternehmen.

Logistics meets Digitalization: BIBA at the German Logistics Congress 2022

19. - 21. Oktober 2022, Berlin

Image: Marcus Meyer Photography

From October 19 to 21, 2022, you will again have the opportunity to meet BIBA with the Mittelstand 4.0-Kompetenzzentrum Bremen at the German Logistics Congress in Berlin.

The German Logistics Congress is one of the most important events on logistics and supply chain management in Europe. The international community meets annually in Berlin to exchange knowledge and experiences, to learn from the best and to define the logistics agenda for the coming years: More than 3,000 participants from over 40 nations come together in real and digital terms. "Supply chains matter!" is the guiding principle of the German Logistics Congress 2022.

BIBA will participate in the accompanying trade exhibition at the booth of the Mittelstand 4.0-Kompetenzzentrum Bremen. The presence is - in line with this year's central theme - all about the digitalization of supply chains. The presented demonstrator illustrates the supply chain and the processes of the maritime industry and logistics involved in it, and shows the benefits of exchanging digital data between the parties involved.

We invite all congress participants to visit us at booth PV/14!
