Girls'Day 2026 at BIBA – Hands-on Technology

April 23, 2026, BIBA, Bremen

Image: Aleksandra Himstedt

BIBA is participating in Girls'Day again this year. Female students are invited to gain exciting insights into the world of technology and research. This allows them to become interested in studying science or technology. Low-threshold hands-on tasks allow participants to experience technology up close. They can also get creative themselves.

The Mycelium Workshop focuses on mycelium composites. Students learn what this sustainable material is and how versatile it can be - for example, by building their own candle holders. In addition, our hackspace in the BIBA Shopfloor Lab opens its doors. From product design for 3D printing to the precise manufacture of small parts with a laser cutter to personalized giveaways: here, students can develop their own ideas and implement them immediately.

Supply Chain Day 2026: Cybersecurity for Smart Logistics

16. April 2026, BIBA, Bremen

Image: Jan Meier

Every year, BIBA participates in the nationwide Supply Chain Day with the Mittelstand Digital Zentrum Bremen Oldenburg and offers an event with changing topics. In 2026, the focus will be on cybersecurity in logistics.

True to the motto “AI in logistics? But of course!”, we cordially invite you to discover the potential of digitalization and artificial intelligence in logistics, with a special focus on relevant cybersecurity aspects. You can look forward to compact keynote speeches from science and industry, practical live demonstrations in the BIBA shop floor lab and opportunities to exchange ideas with experts.

As part of the expo, we will demonstrate, among other things, how energy resilience and the protection of critical infrastructures work in practice, how cyberattacks in logistics environments are detected and analyzed, how deepfakes are created, and what methods exist for detecting them. We will also showcase automated driving and the use of AI for process optimization in port operations, networked and assisted forklift solutions for internal use, and an administration shell demonstrator that illustrates the use of digital twins for interoperable data networking.

Innovative Production – Automated, Smart, and Energy Efficient

February 17, 2025, Bremen

Image: Michael Brink

Optimizing production processes—whether through automation, AI, or energy efficiency—is currently a focus for many manufacturing companies. What are the latest trends in innovative production? And how can your company benefit from them? We will answer these and other questions in our LabTour “Innovative production – automated, smart, and energy-efficient” on February 17, 2026, at the BIK – Institute for Integrated Product Development at the University of Bremen.

Join us and experience live how AI increases energy efficiency in robotics and production processes – from interactive dashboards to demonstrators for automated rotor blade manufacturing. Take away concrete ideas and pilot concepts, make valuable contacts while networking over finger food, and gain insights into innovative manufacturing processes and AI-supported optimizations.

The LabTour is organized in cooperation with the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Bremen-Oldenburg, the BIK – Institute for Integrated Product Development at the University of Bremen, the BIBA – Bremen Institute for Production and Logistics, and the Umwelt Unternehmen office.

Innovative Energy Concepts – Energy Flexibility and Grid Serviceability

November 20, 2025, BIBA

Image: Jonas Hörnschemeyer

The energy transition is not only taking place on rooftops, but also in minds, in production, in data centers, and in corporate strategies. It requires us to no longer just consume energy, but to understand it—as a resource, as an economic factor, and as part of an interconnected system. In close cooperation between science, business, and industry, we take a look at how research, technology, and entrepreneurial practice interact. We talk about the bridge between theory and implementation, about new roles in the energy system, and about the courage to rethink our own energy supply.

The event “Innovative Energy Concepts – Energy Flexibility and Grid Serviceability” on November 20, 2025, at BIBA will focus on ideas relating to energy-flexible production, digital infrastructure as an energy partner, and holistic energy strategies for companies. Be our guest and learn in practical presentations how research and industry are working together to develop innovative solutions for a flexible, efficient, and crisis-resilient energy supply. Discover novel approaches – from intelligently controlled data centers to strategic energy management in practice. Take advantage of the opportunity to engage in direct exchange with experts from business, science, and industry. The day will be rounded off with a get-together featuring snacks, drinks, and exciting conversations.

We offer this event in cooperation with Der Mittelstand. BVMW and the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum-Bremen-Oldenburg.

Mittelstand Digital Congress 2025: AI and Cyber Security for Businesses

November 13, 2025, Bremen

[Translate to English:] Bild: Navaporn/stock.adobe.com

Germany should remain a country of small and medium-sized enterprises and become an AI nation. This requires secure and sustainable digitalization—especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups, and craft businesses. The Mittelstand Digital Congress 2025 will highlight key issues: What knowledge of artificial intelligence is necessary? What impact will the new cybersecurity regulations (e.g., NIS2) have in practice? When does voluntary become mandatory?

As a partner of the Mittelstand Digital Center Bremen-Oldenburg, BIBA is participating in the event and presenting a demonstrator for the use of augmented reality (AR) in logistics. Visitors can experience first-hand how AR supports processes in warehousing and order picking, increases efficiency, and at the same time takes IT security and compliance requirements into account. Experts will be available for technical discussions and will explain how AI-supported applications and cybersecurity measures can be integrated into business practice.
