BIBA – Research for Production and Logistics

Research and teaching for production and logistics: over the decades, BIBA has repeatedly set new standards in this field. As the oldest affiliated institute of the University of Bremen, and co-founder of the university's faculty for Production Engineering – Mechanical Engineering and Process Engineering – BIBA traditionally works in close cooperation with the university.

Since its foundation in 1981, BIBA has been a symbol of pioneering ideas and projects, application-oriented teaching and cooperation across disciplines, institutions, companies and countries. It carries out fundamental research as well as R&D projects, and translates the results of its research work into industrial practice.

Our Objectives

A comprehensive and holistic approach to production and logistics constitutes the basis for BIBA’s research activities. The work is focused both on a product- and a process-oriented point of view. While this differentiation is reflected by the two research areas of the institute, in general, BIBA’s work is interdisciplinary and crosses the boundaries between the two areas.
