MARS – Dual Operation Mode AGVs for Fast and Flexible Sorting

Uniting collaborative and non-collaborative automated sorting in one AGV. With this aim, in the EIT Manufacturing project MARS co-funded by the European Union, we researched and implemented safe localization methods in design of a new AGV, together with our partners Fives Intralogistics SPA Italy, SICK Sensor Intelligence and Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems and Automation. We have lead the research efforts of state-of-the-art localization technologies, putting high emphasis on the safety for human collaboration. We created localization solutions to enable safe operation switching and done meticulous testing together with our partners. We dedicated this gained knowledge and experience to create learning nuggets to further disseminate.
