Marit Hoffmeyer has successfully defended her doctoral thesis on the topic of ‘Development of a vehicle handling system to increase the productivity of vehicle movements at automotive terminals’ – we warmly congratulate her!

In her thesis, Marit developed a new planning and control system that makes vehicle handling processes at automotive terminals more efficient and flexible. Particular attention was paid to human factors and the automated handling of unscheduled events. The system was implemented as a prototype event-discrete simulation model, and the results show significant productivity gains compared to previous approaches. The system is already in use today, and implementation at other terminals is in progress.

The dissertation thus makes a practical contribution to increasing the efficiency of vehicle handling at automotive terminals. The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Michael Freitag, University of Bremen, and Prof. Jens Heger, Leuphana University Lüneburg.
