On 20 January 2025, Christoph Petzoldt successfully completed his doctorate on the topic of ‘Dynamic task distribution for human-robot collaboration in assembly’ - congratulations!

In his thesis, Christoph investigated how humans and robots can work together effectively to make industrial assembly processes more efficient, flexible and ergonomic. The focus was on the development of a dynamic method for the ad-hoc distribution of assembly tasks during execution. The method was implemented as a software system and categorised in a higher-level reference model for task distribution. The results show that assembly processes are carried out more efficiently using this approach and are better adapted to the individual performance of the employees.

The dissertation thus makes a valuable contribution to the practical implementation of human-robot collaboration in assembly. The dissertation was supervised by Professor Michael Freitag, University of Bremen and Professor Jochen Deuse, TU Dortmund University, Institute for Production Systems, TU Dortmund.
