"Girls' Day" at BIBA: Enthusiasm for Engineering Sciences

The BIBA campaigns for the Germany-wide "Girls' Day" were aimed at attracting female students to study science or technology. Thus, on April 27, for another year in a row, we provided taster offers for future female scientists. These included two workshops for a playful exploration of the topic of "Simulation and Modeling," in which the female students were able to convert buildings and objects on the university campus into 3D models. In another workshop, the students took the opportunity to learn about AI-based chatbots, such as ChatGPT, and to create their own chatbot.
Both topics - otherwise known from media and computer games - were very well received. What the participants liked about the workshops was the independent work, but also the exchange in the team and especially the freedom for creativity. We think this is a good basis for considering engineering studies or a career. We are also pleased to have provided some inspiration.
