On January 29, 2025, BIBA took part in the SmartPort Community Meetup at the Digital Hub Industry. With around 150 experts and interested parties, we had an intensive exchange about the future of a smart port.

Among other things, we presented the recently launched DATIpilot project “Smartport Transfer” (SPorT), which aims to work with the community to create a digitalized, intelligent port that is people-centric and resilient. The management team consisting of Martina Wellbrock (Sondervermögen Hafen/bremenports), Prof. Frank Arendt (ISL - Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics) and Prof. Michael Freitag (University of Bremen/LogDynamics) presented the project goals and extended an invitation to the community to collaborate. Another topic was the Smartport Living Lab, in which BIBA, together with its partners ISL, DFKI, TOPAS and DLR, will be working on the development and testing of innovative technologies for the port of the future. The aim is to make port operations more efficient and sustainable.

We look forward to the exciting research and transfer issues that will arise from the collaboration with the SmartPort community. Let's work together to advance Bremen as a leading location for innovative port logistics!
