Supply Chain Day: The Future of City Logistics is Green

Graphic Recording: Janine Lancker

On the occasion of the nationwide Logistics Day on April 20, 2023, BIBA opened its doors and invited to the event "Sustainability in City Logistics". Co-organizers were the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Bremen-Oldenburg, the Research Cluster LogDynamics, the Environment Business Office and the Bremen Chamber of Crafts.

The invited experts from politics, science and business presented the future vision of a green city and described the measures on the way to its realization. Whether customer-specific, sustainable food logistics, city logistics with cargo bikes to revitalize the inner cities or microhubs to automate the last mile - the city is changing and is on the way to more ecological sustainability. The impulse presentations were the initial spark for the discussion in the World Café Workshop. The conclusion was: the future belongs to a green city with a high quality of life, to which green logistics also makes its contribution.

During a guided tour of the BIBA Shop Floor Lab, examples of synergies between logistics and sustainability from current research projects were presented. Around 50 guests from business and science accepted our invitation, joined in the discussion and exchanged ideas at the concluding get-together. Many thanks to all for their participation and contributions!
