Potential of MicroPorts: A Concept to Strengthen Inland Navigation

Image: MicroPorts
In this video, we present the results of the “MicroPorts” research project, which focused on the optimization of multimodal freight transport between inland waterways and other modes of transport. In view of the growing pressure on road and rail freight transport, the MicroPorts concept offers a more environmentally friendly alternative. Using the Hoya road bridge as an example, we show how decentralized transhipment hubs could make transport more efficient while reducing costs and CO₂ emissions.
