On November 26, 2024, our event on digitalisation and artificial intelligence in SMEs at the Bremen Chamber of Commerce in Bremerhaven offered numerous exciting insights. Informative keynote speeches by experts such as Prof. Dr Christof Büskens (University of Bremen, Topas) and Philipp Hemmers (Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Rheinland, RWTH Aachen) highlighted the opportunities of AI for industry and SMEs. Nicolas Jathe from BIBA presented innovative AI applications in logistics, while Kathrin Wegner (BIS Wirtschaftsförderung Bremerhaven) focussed on the digital transformation in the construction industry. The topics were explored in greater depth in two parallel workshops: ‘Innovation pioneer or how digital trends can revolutionise your business model’ and ‘Good prompting: a tour of generative AI tools’, which offered valuable tips on the use of AI.
During the coffee break and the subsequent get-together, participants had the opportunity to experience various technology demonstrators up close, including AR assistance systems with Microsoft HoloLens 2 (from the BIBA project AR Improve), a 1:8 model for autonomous driving (from the project #MOIN), a demonstrator for optimising production with AI from the EIT Manufacturing project ‘AI Industry Analytic’ and an intuitive learning robot for digital training from the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Bremen-Oldenburg.
The event was organised by the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Bremen-Oldenburg, the Bremen Chamber of Commerce - IHK for Bremen and Bremerhaven and BIS Wirtschaftsförderung Bremerhaven. Co-operation partners were: BIBA - Bremer Institut für Produktion und Logistik GmbH, Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Rheinland, #MOIN - MOdellregion INdustriemathematik, Transferzentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz - Bremen.AI, Regionales Zukunftszentrum Nord. The BIBA team would like to thank everyone involved for their contributions and the excellent collaboration!
