Efficient and Ergonomic Work with Exoskeletons and Intelligent Transport Systems

The project MEXOT, carried out in cooperation between BIBA and the companies BLG, ELROTEC and HUNIC, is setting new standards for ergonomic and efficient work processes in automotive handling with a human-centred support and automation approach: exoskeletons not only support employees in carrying out their work, but also analyse their posture in real time using integrated sensors and AI methods in order to promote an ergonomic way of working through an incentive system.

The system is supplemented by autonomous mobile robots (AMR; Autonomous Mobile Robots), which reduce non-value-adding distances, e.g. through a ‘follow-me’ mode for commissioning. The AMRs deliver the materials directly to the workstations and ensure ergonomic transfer thanks to adaptive lifting tables. The ComFlow software framework coordinates all subsystems and enables simple process adjustments thanks to intuitive no-code programming.

The final video of the project impressively shows how MEXOT creates pioneering workstations that combine efficiency and ergonomics.
