We are delighted that our former BIBA colleague Claudio Uriarte, Managing Director & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and co-founder of cellumation GmbH, successfully obtained his doctorate in engineering on March 9, 2026. His dissertation, entitled “Methodical Development of Highly Flexible Stationary Conveyor Technology Using the Example of an Omnidirectional Conveyor System,” was supervised by Prof. Michael Freitag, University of Bremen, and Prof. Jens Heger, Leuphana University Lüneburg.

In his thesis, Claudio presents a method for the development and further development of highly flexible material flow systems with its own evaluation method for quantifying flexibility in four dimensions (layout, conveyed goods, throughput, process) and changeability. Validation on the celluveyor system over several generations highlights its current importance for the design of material flow systems. The method is a helpful tool for manufacturers to systematically develop their own highly flexible solutions for logistics applications.
