We would like to congratulate Jasper Wilhelm on completing his doctorate! As a former colleague at BIBA, Jasper has made an important contribution to the future of production with his dissertation “Cognitive Human-Technology Interaction – Development of a Flexible Functional Model for Controlling Cyber-Physical Production Systems.”
The doctoral colloquium took place on December 18, 2025, and the thesis was supervised by Prof. Michael Freitag, University of Bremen, and Prof. Jannicke Baalsrud-Hauge, KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
In his dissertation, Jasper explores how humans and robots can work together more effectively in modern production environments to make assembly and handling processes more flexible, efficient, and human-centered. He developed a method for dynamic task distribution between humans and machines, embedded in a digital twin-based control architecture. The digital twin acts as an active mediator, enabling collaboration and mutual support and placing the focus on humans as problem solvers.
The results show that this adaptive and cognitive human-technology interaction increases efficiency and adaptability and strengthens the role of humans in the production of the future.
