For three weeks, the employees of BIBA – the Bremen Institute for Production and Logistics – pedaled hard during this year’s City Cycling event. The result exceeded all expectations: The goal they had set for themselves to mark the institute’s 45th anniversary was more than doubled.

Initiated and organized by the works council, the BIBA team set out with great enthusiasm to collectively rack up kilometers in support of climate protection, sustainable mobility, and quality of life in Bremen. In addition to their daily commutes, a group bike ride organized by the institute to Blockland also played a major role in fostering team spirit and racking up kilometers.

BIBA’s 45th anniversary in 2026 provided a special motivation: To mark the occasion, the team set out to cycle a symbolic 4,500 kilometers. Thanks to their great efforts, the participants managed to far exceed this goal. BIBA’s results for City Cycling 2026:

• 9,077.9 kilometers cycled (more than double the anniversary goal)
• 43 active cyclists
• 826 trips completed
• 1,488.9 kg of CO₂ emissions avoided
• 22nd place in the overall ranking of all participating teams in Bremen

BIBA would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to all colleagues for their enthusiastic participation, as well as to the works council for organizing the event and the successful accompanying activities. Even after the three weeks of activities have ended, the BIBA team will continue to stay active – for the environment and for their own health.
