Hands-on technology: AI-supported robot control, automated rotor blade production, and AI applications for energy efficiency—these were the highlights of the LabTour “Innovative Production—Automated, Smart, and Energy-Efficient” on February 17, 2026, at the Institute for Integrated Product Development (BIK) at the University of Bremen.

A keynote speech highlighted ways to achieve energy-efficient robotics through AI: from the model to optimal movement. Participants then had the opportunity to experience first-hand how (partial) automation and digital assistance systems improve production processes. The demonstrators and projects on display included: automated rotor blade production from the HyRoS, ReadSet, BladeFactory, and HIT Rotor Systems projects, as well as AI applications for energy efficiency from the Tide2Use project (pumping station and lock control) and ecoKI (AI-supported efficiency improvement in production).

The LabTour not only offered hands-on technology, but also concrete ideas and inspiration, as well as space for networking and exchange. It was organized by the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Bremen-Oldenburg together with BIBA and BIK, in cooperation with the Umwelt Unternehmen office and the Bremen Chamber of Commerce.
